Sold - reference stallion only
We purchase Red Mountian Zip in 1993 to start our AQHA breeding opperation. He has been all we had hoped for and more! He throws awsome sound minded babies with great conformation, lots of chrome and roaning! We like him so much that we would like to keep some of his daughters for /riding broodmares. He would be wonderful for adding some AQHA bloodlines to you Paint opperation. I haven't bred him to any paints yet, but he throws excessive white on 40-50% of his AQHA babies. He also has thrown color everytime he's been bred to ApHC mares. He is listed with APHA and ApHC and is also registered FQHR.
He is sound for breeding, running the pasture, and occasional light riding, but not for hard riding. He got caught in a fence as a 4 yr old (while we were still learning what fences are apropriate to seperate stallions and mares) and got an injury that effects his right front hoof. He is fairly well broke, even with as little as he has been ridden. He needs an experience rider if he is around other horses (mares) but he is good for lessons or pony rides in the round pen. You can let him set for years and take him out and he rides just like when you put him away. He has been roped off of and trail ridden. Hand or pasture breeds. Loves to babysit the foals. I usually hand breed him the first time in the spring and then turn him out with the mares and foals.
